Costume Design

Costumes i designed for a follies show.  It's always great practice to volunteer to design for a greek show! this theme was a retirement home theme. I designed costumes for an old lady, an orderly, and a grandson. It was good experience to help design. :)

Last night i stayed up until 3 in the morning working on my swatch book. it's this book for textiles, and let me tell you that it is annoying as heck. SHEESH i am an apparel design major, but i don't think anyone should have to go through what i had to. It's just this huge book that has swatches in it, that tell you the fiber content, what it's made from and other random crap. it's not pointless, but i wish it was so i wouldn't have to go through all that trouble. 198 swatches. taping it in, writing the name, number, and fiber content. UGH. it's a good thing i love fabric i guess. Oh here is a page in my lookbook!

THE LOOK BOOK.

My look book is officially been started. It's a really nice black leatherbound sketchbook and i'm really excited about it. I don't have to do this for a class, but it's a great resource and way to write and record your inspiration. It's like the fashion version of an idea book. Here is a preview of it.

Mood Boards

Anyone can make a mood board about anything. I love making mood boards because its just a collage of anything you interpret from a piece of clothing, art or just how you feel that day. you can do anything with it, and you can make it any way you want to. For my design theory class i have to make a mood board based on a painting I am really excited about it.

College life

If i never knew what the word "busy" meant, i definitely do now. I am taking 14 hours in college. "Oh that's not too bad." people say... well to them i say "it is if 4 of them have at least 2 hours worth of labs." 4 labs. which means every day i have at least 1 class that lasts about 3 hours. As an Apparel Design major it is great. I am so excited for my classes, but 4 Labs??? (INSANITY) My labs are Textiles (chemistry based class), Chemistry (KILL ME), Design Theory (basically a Fashion/Art class), and Apparel Production ( a sewing class)
Meet the most difficult device ever. The Industrial Serger. Took me 30 minutes to thread it.
To all you fashion majors, i understand your pain. And it's only been a week of school.
